AIIMS Doctor Passed Away Due to Covid-19
A 25-year-old specialist who finished his MBBS from AIIMS passed away on Monday morning in the wake of having struggled Covid for longer than a month. Dr Vikas Solanki, a resident of Hisar in Haryana, tested positive for the sickness a month ago and had been availing therapy at a hospital there. He was moved to the AIIMS grounds in Jhajjar as his complications increases.
“He had finished his temporary job and gone to his old neighborhood in Haryana where he got the disease. He was taken back to AIIMS for treatment and in spite of the best efforts of the specialists here, he died on a ventilator for one and a half months,” said Dr. Amrindeer Singh Malhi, a specialist aat AIIMS.
Another resident specialist Abhinav Singh stated, “He is the most skilled person I have ever met.” He said that Dr Solanki had supported the education of students from class 6 through 10 in a school in Leh Ladakh for a long time. “Dr Vikas consistently affirmed that investment on training can change the face of India.”
Dr Ajay Mohan, a surgery resident at AIIMS, who was Solanki’s senior during their MBBS days at the Institute, said he passed on at 8.30 am at the Trauma Center. Mohan said Solanki was at first “asymptomatic” and that the infection “first affected his pancreas prompting hypoglycemia and sepsis. Gradually, his organs started closing down. He went through dialysis as well — the state of his lungs crumbled and afterward on Monday morning, he died. He was a powerful youngster; it’s so sad and alarming.”
