Allergy treatment

Allergy treatment and care: Here’s all what you need to know!

With the decreasing immunity levels, unhealthy eating habits and lifestyle, allergies have become one of the most common and widespread issues these days. They are usually caused due to hypersensitivity of the immune system, most commonly to substances like pollen, chemical toxins, animal hair, parasites, dust, and food. Metals, insect stings, and medications are also the common causes of allergies that can be irksome to a great extent.

The major symptoms of allergies include redness in eyes, itchy rashes, running nose, shortness of breath and swelling. People suffering from any kind of allergy are likely to have cold, aches and pains, irregular heartbeat and gastrointestinal problems. They may even have asthma and breathing difficulties in extreme cases.

Allergies can crop up at any time in one’s life. They can also occur due to hereditary, thus requiring effective allergy treatment options. The major cause of allergies is the reaction of the immune system to a common or unusual substance (also called allergens). As per the Ayurveda, the main causes of allergies are ama (undigested toxins) and low immunity. The undigested toxins usually settle at the digestive level or in various tissues of the body. They result in the accumulation of toxins that imbalance the tissues. The toxins produced due to Ama lead to severe conditions like Pitta or Kapha.

Sore red eyes and an inflamed itchy nose are the common symptoms of an allergy based on Pitta. The person can also suffer from low fever and might feel extremely irritable as well. He is likely to suffer from sneezing attacks when exposed to direct sunlight. Medical studies show that the major cause of Pitta based allergies are citrus blossoms.

On the other hand, a Kapha allergy results in a heavy and dull feeling in the head, laziness, swelled eyes, stuffy nose, sleepiness, sinuses and the production of lots of mucus. The allergens related to damp like moist and molds usually result in Kapha allergies and can even cause asthma in vulnerable victims. Other allergens like dry dust lead to Vata allergies and make your throat dry and hoarse. They can also cause extreme dryness and pain in the nose as well.

There are a number of options for allergy treatment using simple home remedies. In Ayurveda, shodhan (cleansing) treatment in the form of Nasya is considered to be one of the most effective treatments for allergies. It involves the instillation of medicated oil in the nostrils. This allergy treatment helps in eliminating the Kapha related toxins and results in clarity of the sense organs. Shaman (pacification) is yet another effective treatment for allergies. It is based on Kapha pacifying herbs which are used in the form of medicines.

It is imperative to ensure that you strictly follow a proper Allergy treatment plan in order to get rid of them altogether.

Thanks for pointing out that allergies can sometimes be hereditary. I’m interested in looking for allergy treatment services soon because my son started having some bumps on his skin yesterday. They have gotten milder today but they aren’t completely gone so I’d like to know what might have caused that.
