Madhya Pradesh’s healthcare sector gets a boost as Tata Trusts inks an MoU with the state government

Over the recent years, Madhya Pradesh has made significant improvements with regards to its health care system. During the year 2018-19, the government allocated almost Rs 2000 crore under the National Health Mission. Furthermore, to encourage public and private investments for establishment of health care centres and hospitals, initiatives like Swasthya Kshetra Nivesh Protsahan were launched.

Taking the state’s medical sector up a notch, the government of MP has recently joined hands with Tata Trusts. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Vijay Singh, chairperson of Tata Advanced Systems and former chief secretary of the state and S.R. Mohanty, current chief secretary of Madhya Pradesh.

The tie-up between the two is aimed to bring state of the art medicine to the masses and ensure a delivery of quality healthcare services. “There is a need to work with a strong monitoring mechanism and innovative thinking for the assured delivery of quality health services,” said MP Chief Minister Kamal Nath, who was also present when the MoU was signed.

Tata Trusts proposed to offer technical support to 115 identified health and wellness centres which is to be set up in 4 years’ time across 23 ‘high priority’ districts. The memorandum also seeks to facilitate establishment of 500 such centres in the coming years. Tata Trusts further initiated to provide necessary support on areas of maternal healthcare and non-communicable diseases such as cancer, diabetes and more.

Whether it is conducting mental health programme in the state of Maharashtra or bolstering other initiatives to eradicate deadly diseases like tuberculosis and malaria, Tata Trusts has long been striving to improve the health care sector of India. By collaborating with the government of Madhya Pradesh, it seeks to boost the state’s healthcare system.
