Israel Signs Contract with Moderna For Potential Coronavirus Vaccine

Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, recently announced that the country has entered into an agreement with Moderna Inc for the future purchase of its potential coronavirus vaccine. However, the financial details of the deal are still not disclosed.

Headquartered in Massachusetts, Moderna is looking forward to start a trial of 30,000 volunteers for its potential coronavirus vaccine this month. With no effective vaccine or drug against coronavirus, this happens to be one of the several other Covid-19 vaccines being tested across the globe as the drug manufacturers are striving to combat the virus.

Israel has signed with the company Moderna an arrangement that will allow us to buy vaccines,” the official statement by Netanyahu read.

The company is advancing its development, they claim they can achieve it by the middle of next year, we hope that they succeed,” he added.

In its attempt to combat the deadly virus, Israel is striving hard to come up with a vaccine through the Israel Institute for Biological Research. With a population of over 9 million, the country has reported more than 19,000 active Covid-19 cases with more than 300 fatalities. The reopening of schools, public places and businesses has also resulted in a significant surge in the number of Covid-19 cases.
