First Covid-19 antibody tests launched in India

CE certified and ICMR approved antibody test by a Chennai-based manufacturer of in-vitro diagnostic products has been launched all over India to battle Covid-19.

CPC, a provider of in-vitro diagnostic products in India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, has over 30 years of experience in the industry. As per the statements made by the organization, the antibody tests play a significant role in community screening and also complement the RT-PCR tests.

Headquartered in Chennai, CPC Diagnostics has propelled Covid-19 immune response tests in India — SARS COV-2 IgM and SARS COV-2 IgG. Both CE-affirmed tests are the first of their sorts to be endorsed by ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research). The antibody test has received a green signal from CE.

CE certification demonstrates conformity with wellbeing, security, and environmental protection standards for commodities sold inside the European Economic Area (EEA). The CE certification is also found on items sold outside the EEA that have been manufactured up to the standards of EEA.

R Kailasnath, MD, CPC Diagnostics, has also stated that the government understands and acknowledges the requirement for more and better testing kits, and we are glad to be adding to India’s battle against Covid-19 with these highly explicit measures. Our need currently is to work intimately with all partners, for example, the private sector, the government, etc.

In contrast to subjectively rapid tests, CPC’s ELISA and CLIA tests give semi-quantitative qualities. This element is essential to evaluate the suitability of plasma for treatment.

Raman Gandotra, CEO, Everlife, said: “Everlife is committed to support its portfolio companies to fight Covid-19 in all the countries where it operates, by providing safe and accurate testing. Quantitative serological antibody testing is uniquely suited in the current COVID environment, where countries are not only looking at detecting and controlling the spread but also preparing to re-open their economies.”
